Midwifery care is an important part of the US childbirth crisis solution.

Pregnancy and birth care with a midwife in attendance has been shown to increase: 

• Unmedicated birth rates

• Client satisfaction

• Breastfeeding rates

Pregnancy and birth care with a midwife in attendance has been shown to decrease: 

• Low birth weight

• Maternal injury

• C-section rates

To ensure that all people have access to midwifery care, we need more midwives! 

Midwives Rising! is a teaching practice founded by Shell Luttrell with the goal of fostering new midwives. 

Student midwives are an integral part of the care provided by Midwives Rising. This gives students the opportunity to learn the art and skill of midwifery, and gives our families the opportunity to experience and enjoy extra services. 

Students are closely supervised and clients will have the opportunity to decline having a student at their birth.

• Belly Casting

• Birth Doula Care

• Postpartum Doula Care

• Placenta Encapsulation

• Placenta Prints

• Childbirth Education
